Three former regional directors in the care company Stendi and a subcontractor to the company have been sentenced to prison for corruption by the Oslo District Court.

The top manager of the subcontractor has been sentenced to four years and three months in prison. The three former regional directors in Stendi have been sentenced to three years and one year and nine months in prison, respectively, the newspaper Aftenposten writes.

In addition, the regional directors have been sentenced to forfeiture of a dividend of NOK 1,796,900.

Stendi, formerly known as Aleris Omsorg, provides child welfare, home services, and health care services. It is the country’s largest care provider.

The subcontractor is said to have, among other things, refurbished the house of one of the regional directors for at least NOK 1 million without charging the director, among other things, Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) reports.

“The case is serious because it is about gross corruption in a company that provides services to vulnerable groups on behalf of the public,” police attorney in Økokrim Anne Allum stated in a press release.

All the convicts will appeal the verdict.
