Norwegians have started to hug each other again. In a recent survey, almost half of Norwegians said they hugged someone outside their household in the last week.
In the Norwegian Corona Monitor survey, 48% of respondents said they hugged someone who did not live in their household in the last week. Among the younger people under the age of 30, 58% said they hugged someone.
“Norway is currently experiencing a hugging record… But considering that most things are now allowed, it is perhaps more startling that half of Norway stopped hugging each other,” senior adviser Nora Clausen in Opinion stated.
Last week, 21% of those surveyed stated that they currently feel lonely due to the pandemic – a decrease of 4% from the week before Norway opened up.
