A total of 280,000 passengers flew with SAS in January this year. That is a decrease of 85% from the same month last year. It is also 28% lower than in December.

The company blames stricter travel restrictions for the reduction in the number of departures and the number of passengers.

“From February 1, all of SAS’s foreign destinations have requirements for quarantine, requirements for a negative PCR test, or a general entry ban for those who are not citizens of the country,” CEO Rickard Gustafson said.

The company expects that demand and capacity will be at a low level for the rest of the winter season.
