Last summer, two self-driving buses were put into service at Fornebu in Bærum. The buses created dangerous traffic situations every day concluded Ruter.
Ruter has evaluated the project and have concluded that the offer was well received. There were, at the same time, many dangerous traffic situations that were directly connected to the bus wrote Budstikka news.
The environment is the cause, since the buses cannot interpret situations, gaze, and feelings.
“The bus had some unexpected stops, which could not be explained by people or objects around it,” the evaluation said.
During the test period, 10 journeys were carried out. At Fornebu there was a host on board who could take control of the vehicle when needed.
It was OBOS who took the initiative for the project, which was led by the IT consulting firm, Acando. Bærum municipality, Ruter, and Nobina collaborated with OBOS.
