A young girl has died after she was hit by a truck at Nøtterøy in Vestfold.
Emergency services were alerted to the accident at 8:15 a.m.At 8:53 a.m the police reported that the girl had died in the accident.
According to Tønsberg Blad girl was most likely on her way to school when probably a truck that was working along the bike path backed into her.
Police in Oslo is not willing to state the girl’s age yet. The accident happened just a few hundred meters from Brattås school.
Resuscitation was being attempted when paramedics arrived at the scene, but her life could not be saved, the police told the newspaper VG.
Truck driver is taken care of by the police and will receive emergency assistance.
– We will also take blood samples of the person, although he is not under suspicion of driving while intoxicated, operations manager in South-Eastern Police District, Anne Meyer, says.
The driver of the truck has had his driving license confiscated as a a matter of routine.
