A woman in her 30s had a finger bitten off in a fight with a woman in her 50s at a mosque in Åkebergveien in Oslo on Sunday afternoon.

The injured woman was taken to the emergency room, while the woman in her 50s was apprehended and placed under arrest after the incident. The woman is charged with bodily injury.

The fight took place inside the Tawfiiq Islamic Center mosque, not far from the Oslo Police Department.

“We were told that a woman was bleeding a lot from one hand and had been unconscious. When we arrived at the site, it appeared that one of the parties had a finger bitten off,” says operations manager Christian Krohn Engeseth of Oslo Police District to NTB.

The operations manager says it was chaotic at the scene when police arrived, but that a finger was found after some exploration.

The course of events and the relationship between the two women were unknown on Sunday evening.

Police were notified of the incident at 17.34 on Sunday afternoon. At 19.00, police were still at the mosque interviewing witnesses.

The suspect remains in custody pending questioning, Engeseth reports to NTB.

According to Wikipedia, Tawfiiq Islamic Center is Norway’s largest single mosque. It was founded by Norwegian Somalians.
