Over 70 nations will be represented in the sports program of Lillehammer 2016.
These are the countries attending the Lillehammer 2016 Youth Olympic Games.
During the Lillehammer Olympics in 1994, 67 nations were represented. 22 years later, four more nations will attend the Games in Norway.
“These numbers are very good”, Jostein Buraas, Head of Sports and Venues at Lillehammer 2016, says.
In Innsbruck 2012, the first Youth Olympic Winter Games, 69 nations were represented.
“More countries have become aware of the Youth Olympic Games and thereby more athletes is given the chance to qualify to the Games”, Buraas says.
The Head of Sports and Venues thinks the number of nations represented is perfect to host sucessfull Games.
