There was at least one corona-infected person on the charter plane that transported Norwegian Olympic athletes to Beijing on Monday, Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) reports.

The channel got the confirmation from Olympiatoppen’s (as an organization, Olympiatoppen is responsible for training Norwegian elite sport) winter sports manager Helge Bartnes. He did not want to further comment on the matter but described it all as “a very difficult situation.”

The nationality of the infected person is unclear.

“I can not say anything about that, but Norwegian people are affected,” he told TV 2.

Olympiatoppen is currently working on getting an overview of the consequences of the proven infection case. Everyone on board the plane tested negative for the coronavirus before departure.

There were many Norwegian Olympic athletes on the charter flight in question, including cross-country skiers, ski jumpers, and a number of biathletes.
