After the new risk assessment from the Norwegian Directorate of Health, the Norwegian Football Association (NFF) decided to cancel Wednesday’s international match against Israel.

The NFF confirmed the decision in a press release.

On Wednesday, the NFF stated that the Norwegian Directorate of Health made its new recommendations in a meeting on Wednesday and a subsequent letter to the NFF.

“It is, of course, sad to cancel a match hours before the kick-off. At the same time, it underlines the seriousness of the situation.

“Over 500 international matches in Europe have been held this autumn. Therefore, we are confident that the protocols provide the necessary infection control framework around the played matches,” Pål Bjerketvedt, Secretary-General of the Norwegian Football Association, noted.

“Now that the health authorities are unsure of the risk after an outbreak of infection in the Israeli squad, we will, of course, follow their recommendation,” he added.
