Bodø/Glimt’s Jens Petter Hauge could be part of Lars Lagerbäck’s national team squad for the Serbia match next Thursday and Martin Ødegaard is making a comeback after knee trouble.
Hauge was one of the best players on the field (a goal-scoring pass and a goal) in Glimt’s away loss (2-3) against Milan in the Europa League qualifier last week.
That helped to convince Lagerbäck. The Swedish veteran coach has seen the majority of Glimt matches this autumn.
Hauge will soon be 21 years old and has a total of 46 age-specific international matches, but none for the A-team.
Martin Ødegaard announced he would not partake in September matches after a twisted period with a jumper’s knee injury. These problems now seem to be under control.
Ødegaard started both Real Madrid’s league matches this autumn but was replaced at the break against Betis on Saturday.
National team manager Lars Lagerbäck has picked out 26 players for the squad, as Norway will play three matches in the upcoming gathering.
André Hansen is back in the goalkeeper position in the national team squad after being out with an injury last time around. He forms a trio together with Ørjan Håskjold Nyland and Rune Almenning Jarstein.
Coventry pro Leo Skiri Østigård is also on the squad. He is joined in the defense ranks by, among others, Sigurd Rosted and Stefan Strandberg,
Norway will meet Serbia at home in the European Championship semi-finals on Thursday next week.
If Norway wins, the “finals” for a European Championship ticket against Scotland or Israel awaits on November 12. That match has also been added to Ullevaal Stadium.
Lagerbäck has an unusually tight match program ahead of him.
The match with Romania is scheduled for Sunday, October 11. The Wednesday after that, the opponent will be Northern Ireland.
Both of these home matches are part of the UEFA’s Nations League.
Norway has three points after the first two matches in the League, after a loss against Austria and a victory over Northern Ireland.
