Magnus Carlsen defeats Firouzja, secures first place in Norway Chess 2020 tournament
On Thursday, Magnus Carlsen managed to defeat Alireza Firouzja. With the victory, Carlsen is now the winner of Norway Chess 2020 before the last round.
The party ended after a huge mistake by Firouzja gave way to Carlsen’s victory.
After winning many of this summer’s online tournaments, the world champion triumphed again in the first tournament during the pandemic, where players sat face to face at the chessboard.
Carlsen managed to stage a comeback even after Jan-Krzysztof Duda broke his 125-game-long series of victories.
