Brazil – Rio de Janeiro: Are Strandli and Kristoffer Brun rowed  Norway into bronze in the Olympic finals in the lightweight double scull. France took the gold.

The Norwegian boat gave everything to the end and was very close to silver, but Ireland was just ahead with 16/100 of a second. It was 69 hundredths up to gold.

Strandliveien / Brown got a good start in the final. After 500 meters  the duo was 10 hundredths of a second behind the French Pierre Houin and Jeremie Azou. Halfway Norway was third and 0.59 behind the leaders.

The Norwegian world champions from 2013 fell slightly in the 1,500 meters, but worked hard the last 500 meters towards the finish; It took the silver.

Olaf Tufte and Kjetil Borch took Norway’s first medal at the Rio Games with the bronze medal in the double scull on Thursday.
