Ødegaard spoke brilliantly in Spanish, Lagerbäck spectates at his own press conference

Martin Ødegaard and Joshua King took the lead in the national team press conference the day before the fateful game against Spain, and team coach Lars Lagerbäck was almost unemployed.

Ødegaard told in both Norwegian and fluent Spanish that it will be special to meet many stars from Spanish football on the field, while King stated that neither he nor Ødegaard would have done well if they had played for the Spanish team.

Former Liga professional Dan Eggen was a competent interpreter, but Ødegaard took on the straightforward challenge of the Spanish journalist by answering in Spanish.

“It will be special to play against friends and teammates, but it’s a match we all want to win,” said Ødegaard, who was specifically asked about the prospect of meeting club mate Mikel Oyarzabal as an opponent.

“It is better to play with Mikel than against him, but it will be big for both of us,” he said.

The match starts at 20.45 Saturday night.
