Norway’s women’s team prioritised the offensive game and used their key players when Nigeria was beaten 3-0 in the first match in the football World Cup on Saturday.
Guro Reiten and Lisa-Marie Utland scored the first two goals before a desperate Nigerian leg sent the ball into their own goal and prevented Utland from becoming an empty goal scorer. With 3-0 before break, the match was settled. Both teams had their chances in the second half, but the tension only applied to how big the victory would be.
‘’It was completely insane. We have been looking forward to this. We have had a fantastic energy, and the gang has been in top form the past week.
We noticed that it was something special. We could not have dreamed of anything more than starting with a 3-0 win here’’ said Reiten to TV 2 after the end of the game.
