Norway has secured the gold medal in men’s team pursuit speedskating – for the second straight Olympics.

The Norwegian team won the gold-medal final with a time of 3 minutes, 38.08 seconds — nearly 2 1/2 seconds ahead of the team representing the Russian Olympic Committee (Daniil Aldoshkin, Sergei Trofimov, and Ruslan Zakharov).

Thus, Norway defended its gold from the Olympics in Pyeongchang in 2018.

The Norwegian trio consisted of Hallgeir Engebraaten, Sverre Lunde Pedersen, and Peder Kongshaug. They defeated the Netherlands (Sven Kramer, Patrick Roest, and Marcel Bosker) in the semifinals, and successfully dominated the final against the Russian Olympic Committee.

The United States team won the bronze by beating the Dutch in the B final.

In 2018, Norway beat South Korea in the final. The South Koreans were nowhere near winning a medal in the Beijing Games and lost in the C final against Canada in the battle for 5th place.
