Paralympics: Norway’s Vilde Nilsen wins silver medal in cross-country skiing

Norway’s Vilde Nilsen captured the silver medal in the women’s sprint standing para cross-country skiing race at the 2022 Beijing Paralympics.

Natalie Wilkie of Salmon Arm, B.C. won in a time of four minutes 5.1 seconds, a full three seconds faster than Nilsen. Wilkie overtook Nilsen in the final few meters of the race.

Sydney Peterson, of the US, crossed the line third for the bronze medal with a time of 4:12.1 seconds.

Nilsen cheered and smiled after realizing she had secured the silver medal after the race.

Following the victory, Wilkie checked on Nilsen, who was laying in the snow overcome with emotions after coming so close to winning the gold medal, CBC reports
