Petter Northug is charged for driving under the influence(DUI) and for possession of cocaine. “I have made a big mistake”

Sports profile, Petter Northug, has been apprehended during a speed control Thursday evening. Police later found cocaine in his home in Oslo.

Northug is said to have been caught driving 168 km/h at a 110 km/h zone on the E6 southbound at Ullensaker 20:15, Thursday evening. 

The police suspected that he was under the influence of drugs after a symptom test showed results, he later took a blood test. His drivers license was later confiscated and his home was searched. Drugs were found there. 

Northug has the status of accused.

-”When a blood sample is taken from the driver, and the driver’s license is confiscated, it gives way to certain rights, and charges must be issued.”, says Operations Manager, Tom Sandberg, of the Eastern Police District to NTB.

Reported the incident himself

Northug reported the incident himself in a post on Instagram.

-”I have made a big mistake. I was stopped by the police during a speed control yesterday evening. I drove too fast, and was also taken to the Emergency department for a blood test. In addition the police found a small amount of drugs in my home. It was cocaine. I am desperate and afraid of what the future will bring, and incredibly sorry for all those I have disappointed again. I know now that it’s going to be a criminal case. I will take responsibility for what i have done.”
