Norwegian cross-country athlete Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo defended his men’s sprint title for his fourth Olympic gold medal.

Italian Federico Pellegrino once again took silver (as was the case in 2018), finishing just under three-tenths of a second behind Klaebo. The two athletes entered the final straight, with Klaebo narrowly ahead.

Klaebo nearly lost his balance as he made his last push, but he was able to recover and hold off the Italian skier. Russian Olympic Committee’s Alexander Terentev took bronze.

With the sprint now behind him, Klaebo will focus on defending his 4x10km relay and team sprint golds.
