Over 5 million travellers flew through Avinor’s airports in August, 4% more than in the same month last year. Especially Oslo, Bergen and Stavanger contributed to the growth.

Oslo Airport, Bergen Airport and Stavanger Airport experienced an increase in the number of passengers of 5%. At the same time, the increase was 5% at the airport in Tromsø and 8% at the airports in Ålesund and Alta.

“We see that the growth trend continues to destinations other than the more traditional southern destinations. To Turkey, there were 33% more travellers compared to the same month last year, and to Croatia, the increase was 5% ” said Jasper Spruit, director of traffic development at Avinor.

While airline traffic to Spain has continued to fall, now the decline is 7%, traffic to France has increased by 17%.

The growth is driven exclusively by traffic to Paris from Bergen and Oslo, which had a total growth of 46%.

At the same time, several smaller destinations also had higher numbers of travellers from Avinor airports in August, not least Lithuania, with an increase of 75%, Estonia with 31%, and Hungary with 13%.

Both SAS and Norwegian had 4% more travellers in August compared to the same period last year.
