Nearly 4.1 million cruise passengers in Norway last year

Last year, there were 2,759 cruise calls in Norway with almost 4.1 million passengers. This is an increase of 360,000 passengers from the previous year.

For Bergen, there has been a decrease in the number of cruise calls from 350 in 2018 to 338 last year. The city nevertheless tops the list of the place with the most arrivals and passengers. The city was visited by just over 550,000 cruise passengers.

Then followed Stavanger with 236 calls, Geiranger with 210, Ålesund with 177, Tromsø with 158 and Flåm with 157.

In total, the number of cruise calls to Norwegian destinations increased by 8 percent from 2018 to 2019.

Last year, the highest number of cruise calls was in June with 683. In July there were 565 calls. However, there has been a significant increase in the number of cruise calls during the low season in winter and autumn.

Statistics from the Norwegian Coastal Administration, has pointed out that the number of passengers is the number on board the ship, not necessarily the number that goes ashore at each location.
