According to a recent survey, only one in five Norwegians will travel to European countries outside the Nordic region next summer.

Spain, Italy, and Germany are the most popular destinations.

“These are very interesting numbers. The results show that many people, especially the young, have big plans for next summer despite the uncertain times,” communications manager Bjarne Rysstad in Gjensidige noted in a press release.

The survey was conducted by Ipsos on behalf of Gjensidige.

Hoping for normalization

A total of 33% of those under the age of 30 answered that they definitely plan to travel to Europe – outside the Nordic region.

“Everyone wants the world to go back to a more normal state, and the fact that one in five Norwegians is ready to travel is an expression of that desire,” Rysstad said.

Among those who want to travel abroad, 24% answered that they think the pandemic will end in 2021, while 50% responded that they believe a vaccine will be ready by then.
