Norwegian redirects flights over Iran in a precautionary measure and in connection with the precarious situation in the country.

In an email to Dagbladet, the company writes that they will redirect their Dubai flights for the time being.

“Our security department makes ongoing assessments. We are in close dialogue with the aviation authorities and adhere to their recommendations and instructions ”, says the email from Charlotte Holmbergh Jacobsson, who is press officer in Norwegian.

The airline informed NRK on Wednesday evening that they were considering ending flights over Iran. The reason is turmoil following the US killing of Iranian general Qasem Soleimani and Iran’s attack on military bases in Iraq. In addition, a Ukrainian plane crashed in Iran under unclear circumstances just after departing night to Wednesday.

– “We started flying another route yesterday,” says Jacobsson.

Several other airlines, including Air France and Lufthansa, have previously reported that they have diverted their flights based on the crisis in the Middle East.
