Strong figures for the tourism industry in Western Norway

The figures for the tourist season in Western Norway even surprise the tourism industry. The number of overnight hotel stays has increased by 7 percent.
The increase amounts to around 358,000 more hotel guest nights sold from January to July this year, compared to last year, writes Bergens Tidende.
“I expected an increase of 2-3 percent. Not as much as this,” says Kristian Jørgensen, CEO of Fjord Norway.
Western Norway, from Northwest Norway to Stavanger, accounts for the largest growth on a national basis. Of around half a million extra hotel nights in Norway, 358,000 of the nights were in the west. This represents 71 percent of national growth.
