The Ministry of Foreign Affairs discourages all travel to Hubei Province, as well as travel that is not strictly necessary for the rest of China.

The background for the UD’s sharpened travel advice is the spread of the covid-19 virus, which was first detected in Wuhan City in Hubei Province in December.

More than 70,000 Chinese have been infected so far, and 1,770 have been confirmed dead.

In addition to discouraging all travel to Hubei Province, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also advises against any travel that is not strictly necessary to the other parts of China.

However, exceptions are made for Hong Kong, as well as Macau and Taiwan.
