The Foreign Ministry recommends travel that is not strictly necessary to four of the northernmost regions of Italy.

The regions in question are Piedmont, Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna and Veneto, the Foreign Ministry states on its website in an update Friday.

FHI went out on Tuesday and advised against travel to northern Italy as a result of the corona eruption in the country, but so far the Foreign Ministry did not want to discourage traveling there.

Italy is the hardest virus-affected country in Europe. So far, more than 3,800 have been confirmed infected and 197 have died in the country.

In Norway, so far 79 of the confirmed cases can be traced back to infection from Italy.
