The Nordic Choice hotel chain has received thousands of cancellations due to the coronavirus. So far,  it is in Oslo that is feeling the effects.

It is primarily events and conferences with international participation that have been cancelled, confirmed Nordic Choice chain’s Managing Director Torgeir Silseth.

He said to Dagens Næringsliv that there are a few thousand rooms affected and uncertainty is greater about how the fear of viruses will affect the travel pattern towards the summer and tourist traffic in the Nordic capitals.

“The travel industry is particularly vulnerable in such a situation. We are prepared and now have a greater focus on hygiene when handling larger assemblies, ” he added.

In other parts of the country, hotels have so far not noticed much change, according to DN.

“It is clear that we are very anxious about the panic because we will also feel the effects. But I think the effects will be short-lived,” said Richard Grov at Hotel Alexandra in Loen.
