On Wednesday, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) recommended a temporary approval of Moderna’s corona vaccine for people over 18 years of age.

This is the second COVID-19 vaccine that EMA has recommended for approval.

The data on the vaccine’s quality, safety, and efficacy have been thoroughly assessed, the EMA wrote in a statement.

Now, the Agency has recommended a formal conditional marketing authorization to the European Commission.

“This vaccine gives us another tool to overcome the current crisis. The fact that we have this second positive vaccine recommendation just a year after the WHO declared the pandemic is a testament to the efforts and commitment of all those involved,” Emer Cooke, CEO of EMA, noted.
