Due to the uncertainty surrounding the e-cigarettes sold in the US, the US supermarket chain Walmart has decided to stop selling them. Norwegian authorities want to know more before changing e-cigarette health advice.

About 530 people have been diagnosed with serious lung problems after using e-cigarettes, and eight have lost their lives, according to US health authorities.

Walmart said in a statement Friday that they are stopping e-cigarette sales in their US stores because of “growing federal, state and local regulatory complexity and e-cigarette uncertainty.”

They further state that they will sell the inventory that is in stores now, but that they will not buy more.

Earlier this week, the states of New York and Michigan introduced a ban on flavored e-cigarettes.

On September 11, the Trump administration announced that a similar measure will also be introduced at the federal level.
