Herøy mayor Arnulf Goksøyr has received NOK 11 million from UDI for operating reception centers.

The mayor of the municipality in Møre og Romsdal is one of many who last fall signed an agreement with UDI agreeing to run the asylum program, according to the newspaper VG.

The company Christiansborg Gjesthus AS, where the mayor is chairman and sole shareholder, has offered 180 emergency places to UDI at a former camp.

The price for one room in December was 700 kroner a day, regardless of whether it was used. Thus UDI paid around 11 million to the company, according to the newspaper.

In parts of the period when the reception center was in use it had been left completely empty.

Goksøyr has not answered repeated requests by VG.

Sunnmørsposten has previously explained that the campsite has stood on a list compiled by the municipality of possible emergency shelters, upon request from the County. After a short time he was contacted by the UDI. The mayor later asked to be disqualified in all matters dealing with asylum centers.

The company Christiansborg Gjesthus AS had 7 million NOK in profits in 2015. The operating costs were 55 million NOK.
