Norges Bank keeps key rate unchanged
Norges Bank is keeping the awaited key interest rate unchanged at 0.5 percent. It is slightly more likely that the interest rate will be cut than that it will be increased next year.
It was ahead of consensus among analysts that Norges Bank was not going to touch the key rate this time.
The experts, among them Statistics Norway, believe that the interest rate bottomed out, but that Norges Bank will not change interest rates until 2019.
– How we are now considering the prospect, the key rate will most likely remain at current levels in the near term, says Governor Øystein Olsen after the interest rate decision on Thursday.
