The third new police helicopter on its way to Norway
The third of the police’s new helicopters was to arrived at Gardermoen on Friday. The helicopter is currently in Denmark due to weather conditions.
The helicopter started its journey from the factory in Italy on Wednesday. After a landing in Germany, it is now in Denmark, where the crew is waiting for better weather, so they can fly on, writes Politiforum.
The three new helicopters are of the AW169 type, and are manufactured by the Italian company Leonardo. The first two were delivered in June this year.
The new helicopter type is a major upgrade from the current ones, and will, among other things, be able to transport six people from the emergency squad – with equipment – over large distances if needed. It has an estimated range of 250 nautical miles.
