The German corona vaccine manufacturer BioNTech has a complex production network with branches throughout Europe.
In addition to the production of the raw materials at the company’s own factory in the German city of Mainz, production also takes place in the east of Germany, and near Vienna in Austria, a spokesperson for the company told DPA on Monday.
The vaccine is then partially completed and bottled at the factory of BioNTech’s American partner Pfizer in Puurs, Belgium.
Pfizer also has its own network in the USA.
In February, BioNTech will also start production at a factory in Marburg, Germany.
Furthermore, the company is still looking for more production partners, BioNTech CEO Ugur Sahin said last week.
