The omicron variant is now dominant in both Oslo and Viken, Preben Aavitsland at the FHI told Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) on Monday.
“In Oslo and Viken, the omicron variant now accounts for more than half of the viruses examined,” Aavitsland told the channel.
The variant was first detected in Norway on December 1, 2021.
In the previous weekly report published by the FHI on December 22, the omicron variant accounted for 25.6% of all infection cases in Oslo.
