A man in his 30s has been arrested and charged with connection to a rape case happened in Gjøvik on Friday night. Interrogation was ongoing during Saturday afternoon.
Police witnessed the rape in the town during a routine patrol on Skysstasjonen in Gjovik around 4:45, wrote the newspaper VG.
– We were on a routine patrol mission in the city and then the police officers came over an incident they perceived as a rape case, said operations Bård Christiansen from Inland police district to NRK news.
The man is a foreign national. The aggrieved is a woman in her 20s.
Saturday morning police secured forensic evidence on the spot.
Operations Manager Marianne Brun states to news agency NTB on Saturday afternoon that police have not clarified the incident. The woman is so far not questioned.
