NATO’s supreme commander, General Curtis Scaparrotti, made a stop to meet Prime Minister Erna Solberg of Høyre (H) during a military summit in Norway this week.
Scaparrotti came to Norway as head of the American forces in Europe, a position he holds in addition to being NATO’s commander.
Together with defence chiefs from Germany, Poland, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, Scaparrotti and Defence Manager, Haakon Bruun-Hanssen, will discuss cyber-defence and the protection of community-critical infrastructure against terrorist attacks during a North European defence summit conference with the USA.
The forthcoming major NATO exercise, Trident Juncture and NATO’s role in the north are also among the topics planned for the conference.
