The Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration (NAV) must pay NOK 50,000 daily in fines if it does not correct errors detected by the Directorate of Digitalisation.
The Directorate believes that NAV is violating the requirements of the Gender Equality Act.
The Directorate’s audit last autumn revealed discrepancies related to the application form for parental benefits.
When the deadline for rectification expired, twelve weeks later, 40% of the discrepancies remained unresolved.
From February 19, the NAV will have ten working days to correct the errors. The daily fines will run from March 8.
The application form is particularly difficult to use for people with disabilities. Thus, the NAV violates the requirements of the Equality and Discrimination Act, according to the Directorate’s press release.
