In March, the government urged all Norwegians that were abroad to return home. Figures from telecom operators indicate that close to 129,000 Norwegians returned to Norway.

Shows information obtained by the NRK from the telecommunications groups Telia and Telenor.

On March 12th, the two operators had a total of 234,000 Norwegian-registered sim cards abroad before the government’s return request. Two weeks later, the figure was down to 105,000.

– “We are seeing a sharp decline in the number of customers who are abroad. Nearly two-thirds of our customers have chosen to return home since March 12, and now there are about 50,000 of our customers abroad,” says Communications Director Henning Lunde of Telia.
