Two out of ten Norwegians drink less alcohol now than before the coronavirus pandemic. Less than one in ten drinks more.

On average, for the entire pandemic, 8% of respondents answer that they have higher alcohol consumption.

A total of 21% report lower consumption than before the pandemic, according to the Norwegian Corona Monitor from Opinion.

“Every month since the summer holidays last year, more and more people report lower alcohol consumption.

“The national alcohol serving ban, which was originally introduced in August, is another significant reason,” senior adviser Nora Clausen in Opinion said.

A total of 75,000 Norwegians were asked whether their alcohol intake was higher, lower, or unchanged in the last week compared with a normal week before the pandemic.
