Wind power will be as large a power producer as nuclear power within three to four years, according to new forecasts from Swedish Wind Energy.
Last year, wind power accounted for 17% of Sweden’s electricity production, which corresponds to almost 28 TWh (terrawatt hours).
Nuclear power is still the largest, with a production of 47.7 TWh, according to figures from a number of energy companies.
Now the use of wind power is increasing, and this energy source will probably be as large a power producer as nuclear power in a few years, according to Swedish Wind Energy.
However, that does not mean that it will be more profitable initially, Swedish Wind Energy’s analyst Daniel Kulin noted.
Sweden usually has a large electricity surplus each year.
