In the first step of phasing out commercial child welfare services, the government is allocating an extra NOK 100 million to public child welfare institutions.
“With this grant, we will be able to ensure that more of the child welfare service comes under public auspices already at the tender round this spring,” Minister for Children and Families Kjersti Toppe told the newspaper Klassekampen.
The millions of kroner are earmarked for building and restructuring public child welfare institutions when the government presents its alternative state budget on Monday.
In the Hurdal platform, the government notes that it wants to phase out large commercial players in child welfare and stop child welfare competition.
