A Norwegian arrested in drug raid in the Canary Islands

A Norwegian citizen along with eleven others of different nationalities arrested and charged with drug crimes in the Spanish Canary Islands.

Police seized 49 kilograms of cocaine, 20 kilograms of hashish, 39,450 euros in cash, weapons and ammunition, writes Canarias Journal.

The drugs came with a cruise ship from Rio de Janeiro to Lanzarote to be distributed to other islands and to the Spanish mainland. There was a crew member who smuggled the drugs on board.

According to the local newspaper La Voz de Lanzarote and several other Canarias newspapers, the arrested gang led by individuals with Yugoslav origin with a military background.

In addition to the Norwegian, there were an Italian, one Croatian, one Serbian, one Bosnian, one person from Montenegro, a stateless person of Swiss origin and four Spanish among those arrested.
