Norwegian Broadcasting (NRK) is moving its head office four kilometers further southeast in Oslo, from Marienlyst to Ensjø.

The new plot will cost NOK 800 million.

“NRK is one of our most important social institutions. Now and in the years to come, the challenge is to attract Norwegian viewers, listeners, and readers who can choose what they want, whenever they want, from a global content market. To succeed, NRK must have good conditions for development and innovation. A modern head office on Ensjø, east of Oslo, will be an important contribution to this,” Culture Minister Abid Raja said.

Broadcasting chief Thor Gjermund Eriksen is very pleased that Ensjø will be NRK’s next stop.

Eriksen: Important

“By choosing a plot, we are one step closer to a future-oriented, modern, and environmentally friendly head office. It will be important for NRK’s further development as a public broadcaster and common arena in Norwegian society,” Eriksen said.

Due to regulations and planning, it is not clear when NRK’s new head office will be completed.
