In December last year, SAS registered a passenger growth of over 150% compared with the same month the year before. A total of 997,000 passengers flew with the airline.
The cabin factor, i.e., the percentage of filled seats, amounted to 57%. That is an increase of 24% compared with December 2020.
“As expected, travel intensified in connection with Christmas and New Year, which was positive. However, the development related to the omicron variant of COVID-19 affected both demand and staff capacity throughout the industry, which had a negative impact on the actual number of flights throughout the month,” SAS CEO Anko Van der Werff noted in a press release.
He stated that the company is still affected by the pandemic and that it faces an unpredictable future.
