Ruter, the public transport authority of Oslo, has started tests of driverless electric busses along the Harbour Promenade. The small, red vehicles are going to take passengers from Kontraskjæret tram stop near Oslo City Hall along the waterfront below Akershus fortress to Vippetangen. Regular operation of the busses is scheduled to begin in the middle of May as route nr.35.

During the tests, the busses will “learn” their route and gather information about their environment. Even though the busses are driverless, there will be a conductor on board at all times to ensure that passengers feel comfortable and to give them information and assistance when needed. The busses are wheelchair accessible and have ample space for prams.
