Four people were probably staying in the house at Berger in Svelvik that burned to the ground on Monday night, the police say. The Municipality’s crisis team has been notified.
“We fear that they may have been in the house when it burned down,” police station chief at the Drammen police station Øyvind Aas told NTB.
Aas says it is too early to say anything about the possible cause of the fire.
“If four people have died in the fire, then this is a deeply tragic incident. The management and the crisis team in Drammen Municipality have been notified and are in the process of implementing the necessary measures,” he noted.
Aas told the newspaper Drammens Tidende that a family of four has not been accounted for yet.
Relatives
The family’s next of kin have been notified of the fire, but the police are working on notifying relatives who live elsewhere in the country.
According to operations manager Jan Kristian Jonsrud in the Southeastern Police District, the police believe that the four people were at home when the house burned down.
The police reported the fire in a house in Sandsveien in Svelvik in Drammen Municipality at 2:27 AM on Monday. At around 3:30 AM, the police stated that the fire was large. Two hours later, the house had burned down.
