A Russian military plane violated Swedish airspace south of Blekinge on Friday night, the Swedish Armed Forced announced.

Swedish fighter jets cut off the Russian plane, several media reports.

The Swedish Armed Forces confirmed the incident on their website on Saturday night.

They wrote that Swedish fighter jets photographed the plane, which was of the type Antonov An-30, a reconnaissance aircraft developed in the former Soviet Union.

“The plane was located east of Bornholm and then flew towards Swedish territory. For a short period, the plane violated Swedish airspace before leaving the area,” the Swedish Armed Forces noted.
