Another 1,200 teachers, nurses, and kindergarten employees in Oslo will join the strike from Wednesday.
“The reason why we are stepping up the strike is to show the employer the seriousness of the situation. Of course, we also do it to put extra pressure on the employer so that we can move forward in the dialogue,” chief negotiator Aina Skjefstad Andersen in Unio told news bureau NTB.
On Wednesday, Unio also stepped up the strike in Oslo with over 1,200 employees in schools, kindergartens, and various health institutions.
More than 600 Unio members in Oslo have already gone on strike after mediation with Oslo Municipality failed.
Before the weekend, it became known that the Unio strike would also be stepped up in other municipalities from Wednesday. A total of 20,000 Unio employees in municipalities outside Oslo will go on strike.
