Since the New Year, 70 foreign workers in Vestnes Municipality in Møre og Romsdal tested positive for coronavirus.
Municipal chief medical officer Sabine Relling Bredeli told newspaper VG that all of the infected are foreign workers who mainly work at shipyards in the municipality.
She added that the workers tested positive when entering Norway in January.
“We are a small municipality with little infection, but there are quite a few companies in the municipality that are dependent on foreign workers, including two larger and two smaller shipyards.
“We have agreed with the business community on how this should be handled, and there is no fear even though the numbers are high,” Bredeli said.
Vestnes Municipality has 6,532 inhabitants.
