Martin Johnsrud Sundby disagrees strongly with CAS’s (sport arbitration court) decision to exclude him for wrong medicine use. Sundby is crystal clear that he has not done anything wrong.

Sundby met the press at Ullevål Wednesday, shortly after it became clear that he was banned for two months for improper use of asthma medicine. Sundby was clearly affected by what he believes is an unfair judgment by CAS.

– This judgment is not on the basis that I have achieved a competitive advantage or that I’ve got more than what is legally allowed. I am convicted of a formal error. A system failure, which I must take the consequences of. Therefore, it is incredibly difficult for me to accept this verdict. It is perceived as totally unreasonable, says Sundby.

Now he directs focus on what will happen next.

– I have to finish with this matter. It has been going on for 18 months, and it has been a tough load. Still, I managed to stand with what I believe is right over the period. Of course because I know I have not done anything wrong, said the cross-country skier.

– I am very happy that FIS has claimed responsibility. I’ve always followed the advice of the medical professionals, he added.
