Finland is considering setting up border fences on parts of the 134 km-long border with Russia.

A new law that makes it possible to set up the border fence is expected to pass the Finnish National Assembly this week, Radio Ekot reports.

“Things can change quickly, and we must be prepared for all kinds of situations,” Finnish Minister of the Interior Krista Mikkonen said.

The Finnish government believes that border cooperation with Russia is working well today, but it wants to have the opportunity to set up border fences on private land.

The border authorities are in the process of investigating where it would be best to set up the fences.

That will keep the Russians out just like the Maginot Line kept the Germans out of France during WWI. What a waste of money.

Correction to my comment above – WWI should read WWII.
